Ian Stewart Barr - Head of Scripted

A prize-winning graduate of the University of Alberta’s playwriting department, Ian Stewart Barr began his career as junior creative executive for Mind’s Eye Pictures before transitioning into a full-time writer and story editor on various youth shows (Mentors; Mythquest; Renegadepress) and sitcoms (da Kink In My Hair, She’s The Mayor),  eventually running a writing room (CSA nominated Tiny Plastic Men II-IV) and showrunning (CSA nominated sketch series, Caution: May Contain Nuts IV&V). He was also Supervising Producer/Writer on the one-hour CBC crime series, Shoot The Messenger.

 

Ian has optioned and developed dramatic series pilots and theatrical scripts for various producers over the years (Copperheart; Hungry Eyes; Storyhawk; Mosaic; Neal Edelstein; Paula Devonshire) and currently has a feature at the final financing stage with MarVista/Neshama. Returning to his roots, Ian is excited to be joining Fenix Film & Television as Head of Scripted.
